Seto-yaki is a byword for ceramics in Japan. With a history dating back over a 1,000 years, the kiln town of Seto, in Aichi Prefecture, was the first to produce glazed pottery. During the Edo Period (1603-1867), Seto, in central Japan, became the largest producer of ceramics in the country.
