A set of incense stands with 5 incense sticks included.
The incense holder has a hemp leaf pattern that also has the meaning of an amulet, for warding off evil spirits. The hemp leaf pattern consists of six diamonds which are connected in a hexagonal shape. Because hemp grew quickly and stretched straight, it was often used for baby clothes and underwear in old Japan. In the Edo period, it was used in costumes for female roles in Kabuki, and became very popular.
Mino ware, a famous type of Japanese pottery produced in Gifu Prefecture, has strong connections with the tea ceremony.
