Kiji Saba refers to a mackerel striped tabby here represented in ceramic style. This beautiful piece is hand made and painted by a traditional ceramics company in Seto, Aichi. The history of the company goes back nearly a century. An expression of Japanese beauty, these fukuju maneki neko are produced by a skilled and dedicated team. One artist produces the maneki neko cat, another the accessories.
Note the different colored eyes which represent the cat's fickle nature. Other features are the delicate eyeliner and pretty ribbon with a leaf motif. The wooden stand perfectly matches the design of the maneki neko.
Each piece is unique and makes for an exquisite decoration or Japanese gift for family or friends.
