Geta

Description


	Geta are traditional Japanese open footwear with elevated wooden soles and cloth thongs (hanao) that fit between the big toe and the index (scond) toe. As such they are a mix between clogs, sandals and a pair of flip-flops. Geta are usually worn with traditional Japanese clothing such as yukata and kimono. The wooden base (called dai in Japanese) makes a distinctive sound on the ground as you walk. Geta are often offered to guests at Japanese onsen hotels to enjoy a stroll outside.
