The hidden architecture of space and time.
"My work is a diary and a dialogue with my environment. The seasons, the weather, the cycles of the moon and sun, the rhythms and patterns we are all immersed in and affected by. The symbols, geometry, and patterns I use are drawn from the traditions of Celtic art, Buddhist mandalas, Islamic design, Navajo art, and now, Japanese design.
However the meanings of the symbols are my own, and may differ from the traditional meanings. Each painting takes from 2 to 12 months to complete.
Jake's paintings have the kind of depth, complexity, and lyricism of other mandalas... but something else, absolutely unique.
