Daikoku is one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Japan and is often seen in a pair with Ebisu.
Daikoku is the god of weath and plenty, farmers, agriculture and rice and also the guardian of the home. Daikoku is often seen with a majic mallet in his right hand and sack over his shoulder.
This statue is made in the distinctive red glaze of the ancient kiln of Tokoname in Aichi Prefecture.
